Summer coming early in Melbourne

Melbourne is set to sizzle on AFL grand final weekend with an early taste of summer sweeping across the city.

Temperatures are set to climb from Thursday, with a high pressure system moving towards the northeast throughout Friday and Saturday, the Bureau of Meteorology says.

Grand final Saturday is set to be a sunny 28C, followed by 30C on Sunday and 32C on Monday, with hot north-westerly winds blowing from inland Australia.
