Stabbed Vic girl critical, man arrested

A five-year-old girl is fighting for her life and a man is in custody following a stabbing in regional Victoria.

The girl suffered multiple stab wounds outside an apartment block in Mitchell Park, a suburb of Ballarat, on Sunday afternoon.

Police are questioning a 23-year-old man, while the girl is in a critical condition at the Ballarat Base Hospital.
