Bourke St rampage victim fights for life

Six people are dead and another is still fighting for their life following the massacre in Melbourne's Bourke Street mall more than a week ago.

Seven people are still in hospital and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says grave concerns are held for the one victim who remains in a critical condition.

"One of those is in a grave condition, is still critically ill and there are fears for that patient's wellbeing," he said on Tuesday.

A 33-year-old Blackburn South woman died Monday night at Royal Melbourne Hospital, the sixth to die after Dimitrious Gargasoulas allegedly drove into pedestrians in Bourke Street on January 20.

He has been charged with five counts of murder but is expected to face a sixth count over the Melbourne woman's death.

Dozens were injured.

The other five who died are three-month-old Zachary Bryant, Thalia Hakin, 10; Matthew Si, 33; Jess Mudie, 22; and an unnamed Japanese man, 25.

Zachary's mother visited the memorial over the weekend and was touched by the "love and kindness" shown.

"A photo of Zac is at every site we visited accompanied with numerous words of love and wishes of heartfelt condolences," Nawwar Hassan Bryant posted on Facebook on Sunday.

She said despite laying her young son to rest, "it isn't getting any easier".

The temporary memorial in Bourke Street was dismantled on Tuesday.

The City of Melbourne plans to mulch and scatter the wilted flowers at the Victims of Crime Memorial Garden next to Parliament House.

The gifts of toys, teddies, cards and notes will be preserved for a permanent tribute to the victims of the Bourke Street mall rampage.
