Shots into Melb brothel miss woman

A woman narrowly escaped serious injury when two men fired shots into the reception of a Melbourne brothel.

The men fired seven rounds into the Dandenong South business about 1.50am on April 17 from what police believe were a shotgun and a long-arm gun.

No one was injured but the employee was shaken, police said on Thursday.

The men left in a BMW four-wheel-drive. Its registration is unidentifiable in grainy CCTV footage released on Thursday.

Detective Senior Constable Karen McIntyre said it was fortunate no one was walking in or out of the brothel at the time.

"We're very lucky we are not investigating a serious injury or even possibly a murder," she said.

Snr Const McIntyre said it was too early to say if the attack was linked to any other incidents or groups.

Officers have sought the help of outlaw bikie gang taskforce Echo, which is investigating several shootings and a firebombing at other Melbourne adult entertainment venues.

Some of those incidents are believed to be over security contracts.
