Trio arrested after shot fired at Vic cops

Three people have been arrested after a shot was fired at a police car following a police chase in Melbourne.

Two men and a woman are in police custody after they were arrested in Werribee on Thursday night.

Suspected thieves shot at a police car just before 3.30am after police stopped chasing a stolen ute in Werribee.

The ute then did a U-turn, drove towards the marked police car and fired a single shot.

No one was injured in the shooting.

"We have people that have discharged a shot towards uniformed police for no apparent reason - that's a real concern," Armed Crime Squad Detective Inspector Stephen Clark told reporters.

"Who knows what they were thinking."

The ute was stolen from Braybrook on Monday night.
