Alleged drunk driver charged after stumbling out of car next to police

An allegedly intoxicated driver has been charged in Melbourne's east after stumbling out of his car in front of police.

Officers were fuelling up at a service station in Seville yesterday when a car pulled up next to them.

Police said a 36-year-old man stumbled out of the car and was then breath-tested by police, allegedly returning a reading of .234.

The Mont Albert North man told police he had been at a party all night and was on his way home.

The man's licence was immediately suspended and he was charged with drink driving.

Police will also impound his car.
