Breast cancer campaigner Connie Johnson will be remembered at a service in Melbourne next week.

The 40-year-old mother of two died on Friday following a long battle with the disease and just a day after receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia for her work on behalf of other cancer sufferers.

Her Gold Logie-winning brother, Samuel Johnson, who last year quit acting to raise money for his sister's Love Your Sister cancer charity, says the memorial service will be held on September 23.

It's set to be live-streamed, according to the Love Your Sister Facebook page.

The campaign has so far raised millions of dollars for cancer research, with Samuel Johnson pledging not to return to acting before it reaches $10 million.

In July, he said his sister was in palliative care after the cancer spread.

Johnson announced she died on Friday with a touching Facebook tribute.

"I'm sad and sorry to be the one to tell you this, yet at the same time, as the Chief Custodian of my sister's legacy, I also feel extremely grateful and proud," he wrote.

"Connie Cottonsocks. It was my pleasure to be your Sammy Seal."
