Vic court hears more over Laa Chol death

A second teenager charged over the alleged murder of young Melbourne woman Laa Chol at a CBD party is also accused of possessing a recreational drug.

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with assaulting and being an accessory to the murder of Ms Chol, 19, on the 56th floor of the EQ Tower early on Saturday.

The youth was not present in children's court on Thursday, when prosecutors said they would make an application for his case to be "uplifted" to a higher court.

He is also charged with possessing methylamphetamine at the outer-western suburb of Truganina on Wednesday, when he was arrested.

His hearing came two days after another boy, aged 17, faced court charged with murdering Ms Chol.

On Tuesday, prosecutors said they required a "lengthy period" to prepare a brief of evidence in the case, including 50 hours of CCTV, statements from multiple witnesses and data from mobile phones.

Ms Chol was allegedly killed amid a dispute between two groups of party-goers, one which hired the EQ Tower short-term stay apartment, police earlier said.

The 16-year-old did not apply for bail and his case is due to return to court on August 16, with prosecutors expected to make an uplift application on August 27.

The case of the 17-year-old charged with Ms Chol's murder is due back in court on August 14.
