The search for missing Victorian woman Karen Chetcuti continues as her neighbour says he has nothing to do with her disappearance.

Police and local SES members did line searches in bushland on Saturday, near where the 49-year-old's car was found by locals engulfed in flames, in a bid to find clues.

Ms Chetcuti left her house lights on and her bag and purse at her Whorouly home when she disappeared on Tuesday.

It's understood the mother-of-two's mobile phone is missing.

Her neighbour, a convicted rapist, told media outlets he spoke to her over his fence at 9.15pm on Tuesday.

"When I saw her she seemed happy. I was picking tomatoes," he told the Herald Sun.

"It's very stressful. I didn't have anything to do with it."

Police visited the neighbour's house on Saturday but he wasn't home.

The last confirmed sighting by police of Ms Chetcuti was at the Whorouly Hotel at 7.30pm on Tuesday.

"I strongly suspect that there is someone, or some others involved," Detective Sergeant Sol Solomon told reporters on Friday.

Ms Chetcuti's red Citroen was found on Thursday morning, gutted by flames, 20km away on Halls Rd in Myrtleford.

"That's totally alarming to us, the vehicle being burnt in that fashion," Det Sgt Solomon told 3AW.

"(She) didn't turn up for work on Wednesday, which is highly out of character for her.

"She's well known as being highly punctual, highly thought of and very efficient in her life."

Security camera footage of Ms Chetcuti at a supermarket at 5pm on Tuesday shows her wearing a cream or yellow tank top and a dark skirt.

Her two children, 14 and 15, are staying with their father, who is separated from their mother.

Ms Chetcuti is 175cm tall, of a medium build, with dark brown, shoulder-length hair.
