The search for two divers missing off the Victorian coast is heading into its fourth day.

The men got into trouble while looking for shellfish near rocks at Fingal Beach, north of Cape Schanck, on Saturday morning.

It's believed they got caught in a swell in the rough coastline that surrounds Cape Schank.

Victoria Police will do a shoreline search where the men went missing at first light on Tuesday.

The SES and Parks Victoria will be helping them in the search.

A 50-year-old Keysborough man, who was diving with the men, was able to swim to shore and raise the alarm.

A 42-year-old St Albans man and a Vermont South man, 34, remain missing.
