Ricky Nixon's memoir gets green light

Controversial former AFL player agent Ricky Nixon admits he has been a "bloody idiot" but says he's moving forward after being told he can publish his tell-all autobiography.

So-called "St Kilda Schoolgirl" Kim Duthie, 22, tried to strangle some chapters of Mr Nixon's book My Side, claiming they contained lies of their dealings in 2010 and 2011.

Mr Nixon is now allowed to publish his memoir, in hard copy only.

He says he wants to get on with his life, including new business ventures.

"I feel that I gave something to football, a lot to football, and contributed to some of the success of the game," he told reporters in Melbourne.

"And then I was a bloody idiot and I made a big mistake, and I'm to blame.

"But now I'm trying to own up to my mistakes and get on with life, and do something about it."

Mr Nixon said the book was also about his family and getting his life back on track.

"If I didn't address going to a hotel room, I would look like an idiot," he said.

He met Ms Duthie in 2010 after the then-17-year-old published nude photos of some St Kilda football players online, earning herself the title "St Kilda Schoolgirl".

Footage later surfaced of Mr Nixon in his underwear in Ms Duthie's hotel room and he was suspended by the AFL Players Association.

Details of the book were aired in a Victorian Supreme Court hearing last year, with the judgment published online, as Ms Duthie tried to halt publication of chapters relating to her.

Mr Nixon denies having a sexual relationship with Ms Duthie, though she said they did.

His book claims Ms Duthie drugged him with GBH and falsified video footage of him, framing him to suggest he had sex with her and took cocaine, the Supreme Court heard in November.

Ms Duthie said Mr Nixon took advantage of her and offered her drugs.

She claimed he paid her $500 to front Network Ten program The Project to lie about their relationship and offer him a public apology.

Ms Duthie claimed he told her: "If you do that, there will be plenty more money for you".

She is not named in Mr Nixon's book.
