Remote Victorian town to feature in blockbuster film

Hollywood royalty will descend on a small remote town in Victoria's Gippsland region from next year.

Walhalla, which has a population of only 20 permanent residents will be taken over by crews to film Ice Road 2: Road to the Sky over three weeks in January.

Work has already started to transform the towns' buildings for the film, which will star actor Liam Neeson.

In a letter sent out to residents and business owners, Servo Productions announced up to 90 cast and cast were expected to film in the town.

"You will notice increased activity in the lead up to and on filming days," the letter said.

"During preparations, you will notice changes to Walhalla's Star Hotel and other landmarks on Main Road. Most notably at the Walhalla Rotunda, the Fire Station Museum and carpark."

The film is a sequel to the 2021 film The Ice Road, which was centred around a remote mine collapse in northern Canada. .

Walhalla is located about 185km east of Melbourne.
