Speeding driver causes Melbourne motorway smash after mistimed merge
A reckless driver's poorly executed merge onto a busy Melbourne highway yesterday caused a near-miss with a truck and a collision with another vehicle.
Amateur footage uploaded to Dash Cam Owners Australia shows a silver hatchback wildly misjudging his entry into two lanes of fast moving traffic on Melbourne's Peninsula Link highway.
The driver of the hatchback hits the brakes to avoid smashing straight into the back of a delivery truck, only to lose control and careen into the path of another vehicle.
With the driver's door buckled from impact, and his stationary car parked halfway across the fast lane, the hooded driver nonchalantly opens the passenger door and jumps out to assess the damage.
ninemsn have contacted Victoria Police and Peninsula Link for more information on the accident.
