Melbourne attack vision sickening: premier

Vision of a man being attacked on a Melbourne street is "sickening", Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says.

The 43-year-old Frankston North man was assaulted by another man while walking along a road at Frankston on Thursday night.

"This is a sickening incident. Anybody's who's seen the CCTV footage could only be sickened by it," Mr Andrews told reporters on Tuesday.

A 32-year-old was later charged before being granted bail in the Frankston Magistrates Court on Monday.

The decision sparked outrage, with former Victorian Liberal premier Jeff Kennett labelling it "an affront to all law abiding citizens".

Mr Andrews said it would be inappropriate to comment on the man getting bail while the matter was still before the courts.

But he added the government had made reforms in the area and was ready to do more if needed.
