Radio station flooded in Melbourne

A Melbourne radio station was forced off air overnight after a car hit a fire hydrant outside the studio and the building was flooded.

Community radio station Triple R, in Brunswick, was flooded on Tuesday night after a car lost control and hit a fire hydrant outside, the station's website says.

"We're off air, and we're very wet! Due to a busted fire hydrant we're off air," a statement on the Triple R website said.

"Umbrella?" the station tweeted just after the accident.

A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman said a person was trapped for 25-minutes in the car that hit the hydrant but there were no serious injuries.

The station was back on air on Wednesday but the office will be closed until further notice.
