Victorian Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews says he talked about jobs with one of Australia's richest women at a $5000-a-head fundraiser.

The Labor leader joined former prime minister Julia Gillard at the home of Jeanne Pratt, the widow of billionaire Richard Pratt, on Monday night.

"I spent most of the evening talking to Mrs Pratt about jobs, about unemployment, about Labor's plan to get Victorians back to work," Mr Andrews told reporters.

Guests reportedly paid $5000-a-head to attend Mrs Pratt's Kew mansion for the event.

"I was very pleased and in fact I was honoured that Jeanne Pratt invited us to her home. It was a very enjoyable evening," Mr Andrews said.

He would not be drawn on questions about whether the donors who paid to be at the dinner would get a head start with a Labor government.

"If there is a new government elected on the 29th of November, we will govern for all Victorians," Mr Andrews said.
