A man is in a critical condition in hospital after apparently collapsing while jogging on a street in south-east Melbourne.

The man wasn't carrying any identification when he was found by a passerby on Ventnor Street in Chadstone around 6.30pm yesterday, police said.

Ambulance paramedics took the man to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition, but attempts to locate his family have been unsuccessful.
