Burglar drives into two police cars

A Melbourne burglar who stole a getaway ute delivered himself into the arms of the law by crashing it twice, both times into police cars.

The man is suspected of being involved in an aggravated burglary in South Melbourne before stealing the ute and careering into an unmarked police car before he'd left the suburb.

Despite the prang, he managed to continue along nearby tram tracks on Tuesday morning and somehow rammed a roundabout.

Pushing on with three wheels, the driver eventually reached Crown Casino, where his luck ran out.

He crashed into a second unmarked police car.

He was arrested at the final crash scene and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The two police officers were also admitted with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say there was no pursuit prior to any of the accidents.
