Police are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a teenage boy in a car park at a shopping centre in Melbourne's south east.

The 15-year-old said he was approached by the man while at the shopping centre in Narre Warren on June 1 at about 2pm.

It is believed the pair then went outside to the car park and got into a white car, possibly a Toyota, where the victim was sexually assaulted.

The boy fled the scene and raised the alarm.

Police have released CCTV footage and images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be of Indian appearance, approximately 30-years-old with black hair and speaks with an accent.

He was wearing a black beanie, grey jumper with a red logo on the front, blue jeans and black sneakers at the time of the incident.
