Police chase from Geelong to Melbourne

A man has been arrested and two people are on the run after a high-speed police pursuit between Geelong and Melbourne.

A 22-year-old Norlane man was arrested when the car he was in allegedly hit a police car in Geelong on Friday afternoon, police say.

Two other people in the car then sped off at high speed and police chased the car from Geelong to Royal Park in Melbourne where they lost sight of it.

A caller told radio station 3AW the car sped past him doing at least 170km/h.

"A Commodore just passed me 40 seconds ago on the West Gate Bridge. He's not getting away, there are two helicopters on him and about six cop cars about 30 seconds behind him," Jake told 3AW.
