Police become Vic beach party poopers

Facebook may not be the best place to advertise a massive teen beach party - these days the cops have Facebook too.

A Facebook event called `Beach Gathering Rye Friday Night BYO' is advertised as an open event with 908 people invited.

"Lochie is having a massive beach gathering on rye foreshore about 300m to the right of the yacht club. We will be supplying a few drinks but nothing too special so BYO alcohol," the post says.

But the boys in blue may have already crashed the party.

Victoria Police responded on Facebook saying: "Thanks for the invite Lleam, Tyson and Lochie. Rosebud police will definitely be attending!"

Organiser Lleam responded, "Anytime Vic pol but just remember it's bring your own."

Many on social media have given the cops kudos for their social media stalking skills.

One of the party's organisers, Tyson Petr Kulstrunk, took to Facebook on Friday morning to say the event had been shut down.
