Police investigating serial arson attacks across Melbourne's north have allegedly caught a man red-handed, lighting a blaze next to a creek.
The 27-year-old was arrested at Epping on Thursday afternoon after he was spotted lighting a fire by Darebin Creek, police said in a statement.
The arrest follows an operation focused on 19 suspicious fires along the Darebin Creek Trail since September 14.
