Lucky escape after Vic emergency landing

Two men have embraced on the tarmac of a Melbourne airport after their plane made an emergency landing on Sunday afternoon.

Moorabbin airport, in the city's southeast, was forced to close as a light plane performed a nose landing after experiencing problems with its front wheel just after 1pm on Sunday.

Footage from Channel Nine shows two men hugging on the tarmac moments after the plane touched down.

Emergency services responded after a distress call was made from the aircraft, which had a damaged front wheel from an earlier landing attempt.

It's understood the plane took off again and circled the airport until emergency services arrived and it landed safely on a foam blanket that was put on the tarmac to reduce sparks, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade says.

An ambulance spokesman said no one was injured in the emergency landing.
