Pet dog killed in Melbourne back yard

A Melbourne woman has returned home to find her pet dog dead in the back yard.

The woman found her two-year-old Bull Arab cross Great Dane, named Amigo, bleeding from the head in her Altona yard on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

It's believed the dog was killed after confronting intruders on property, and anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
