Man freed from under train in Melbourne

A man has been taken to hospital with head injuries after being hit and trapped under a train in Melbourne's outer suburbs.

The man in his 30s was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition with head injuries after being struck by the train about 9pm on Saturday at Tecoma, east of the city.

Circumstances around the incident remain unclear but trains remain suspended between Upper Ferntree Gully and Belgrave.
