Man dies in Victoria glider crash

An experienced pilot died when his glider crashed into a paddock in central Victoria.

It came down near the intersection of Lake Mokoan Road and Chesney Vale Road on Friday afternoon.

Described as an avid glider on Twitter, the 71-year-old man had taken off from the Benalla Airfield.

It's believed he often drove to Benalla from his Croydon home to take the glider to the air.

He was the only person in the glider.

Investigations are underway to see whether the glider was faulty or if the man had a previous medical conditions that could have led to the crash.
