Pedestrian killed by car in Melbourne

A woman is dead after being hit by a car in Melbourne.

The woman, aged in her 40s, was crossing the road in Mitcham at midday on Tuesday when she was run down by a car.

The 30-year-old male driver stopped at the scene and is helping police.
