Pedestrian hit and killed in Melbourne

A pedestrian has been hit and killed while crossing a road in Melbourne's north.

Police say the man, aged in his 20s, was on a median strip on Bell Street near the Tullamarine Freeway exit in Pascoe Vale at about 10.30pm yesterday when he walked onto the road and was struck by a car.

Emergency services were called but the man died at the scene.
