Parks Victoria has appointed a new chief executive three months after sacking its former boss for "unacceptable conduct".

Matthew Jackson, previously the chief executive of Phillip Island Nature Park, will step into the role in February, Parks Victoria announced on Tuesday.

Bradley Fauteux was sacked by the board in mid-September just 10 months after taking up the role.

It was alleged he'd engaged in serious "unacceptable conduct".

The case has been referred to the Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission.

Parks Victoria has declined to comment further on the case until it's finalised.
