Parcels of live snakes intercepted in Melb

First it was snakes on a plane, then it was snakes at the post office.

Australian biosecurity officers opened a package at Melbourne's international mail facility and found 13 live snakes.

The green snakes arrived in packages from Indonesia that were labelled `mixed powder', with X-rays revealing the scaly cargo.

The snakes, which were likely imported for pets or breeding, have been destroyed and tests are underway to determine their species and any possible diseases they may have been carrying.
