NSW murder accused to be extradited to Tas
A NSW man is being extradited to Tasmania after he was charged with murdering his elderly mother in Hobart.
The 88-year-old died in her Sandy Bay home on March 4 after allegedly being administered medication, Tasmania Police say.
Her son, 61, appeared before Woy Woy Court House in NSW on Friday, where a request for his extradition to Tasmania was granted.
He is due to arrive in Hobart on Saturday evening, escorted by detectives, before appearing at a special sitting at Hobart Magistrates Court on Sunday.
Tasmanian and NSW police officers searched several properties in Woy Woy this week before they arrested the man at his workplace on Friday.
It's alleged the man travelled to Hobart in the days before his mother's death.
