Not guilty plea over Vic double murder

A Melbourne man has pleaded not guilty to murdering a couple in the lounge room of their home as their children slept just metres away.

Mustafa Kunduraci, 45, is accused of murdered Gregory Tucker and Korinne Aylward in December 2013 after arguing with them over a perceived debt for plastering work.

Police found Mr Tucker, 54, and Ms Aylward, 35, stabbed to death in their Moonee Ponds home while their three children - aged between two and five - slept unharmed in another room.

Police claim Kunduraci called triple-zero from outside the couple's home, saying he had dropped in to collect the money he was owed and a fight had broken out.

He was found with a backpack containing a knife, cable ties, duct tape and a bottle of petrol, documents tendered to the Melbourne Magistrates Court allege.

Magistrate Luisa Bazzani on Friday committed Kunduraci to stand trial in the Victorian Supreme Court on two counts of murder.

He entered a plea of not guilty.

Ms Bazzani described the couple as loving parents and said she was relieved to hear the children were asleep when their parents were brutally killed.

Kunduraci, of Meadow Heights, will face a directions hearing on November 10.
