No lockout laws for Vic: Andrews
AAP
Victoria's premier has ruled out Melbourne getting lockout laws similar to those in Sydney.
Daniel Andrews says additional police resources, a tougher approach in terms of liquor licenses and more inspectors upholding current provisions have made Victoria safer.
The premier said while night-time street violence hasn't gone away, it was "much more pronounced" in 2008-09.

"We think we've got the policy settings about right, and I'd always listen to Victoria Police on this and I often have," Mr Andrews told reporters.
