New information in Vic murder case

Police believe they know the last movements of a car linked to a Melbourne man's death.

Kenan Balikel, 42, was found in a burnt-out Peugeot at Diggers Rest on Friday, two days after his wife gave birth to their fifth child.

It is now believed that Mr Balikel's grey Peugeot 407 wagon travelled north on the Tullamarine Freeway in Bulla, towards Bulla Diggers Rest Road, Diggers Rest, on Thursday October 30 between 11.40pm and midnight.

Police have no motive for the death of the Footscray man, who bought the vehicle as part of his used car business.

Homicide Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Stuart Bailey said police believe that due to the remote location a second vehicle must have been involved.

"Our investigations have led us to believe that another car may have travelled with the Peugeot to where Kenan's remains were found in the burnt-out car," Det Sen Sgt Bailey said in a statement on Friday.

"Those involved had to have had a way to leave the scene and we are appealing to anyone with information to come forward."

CCTV from the surrounding areas is still being analysed in the hope it will assist in identifying the second vehicle that police believe was involved in Mr Balikel's death, Det Sen Sgt Bailey said.
