Talks will resume on Wednesday between Metro and the train drivers union in a bid to end a long-running pay dispute.
Talk of industrial action in AFL grand final week was taken off the table by the Rail, Tram and Bus Union on Friday when a memorandum of understanding was signed, though a final deal has not been reached and both sides say they will return to negotiations on Wednesday.
"Talks are continuing on Wednesday," Metro spokeswoman Larisa Tait told AAP on Tuesday night.
