Missing Vic bike link to be built by 2017

One of Melbourne's busiest bike trails will be completed thanks to the use of private golf course land.

The Victorian government has acquired 9000 square metres of the Latrobe Golf Club to complete the Darebin-Yarra Creek Trail.

The new kilometre-long section will see a three metre wide concrete cycling path extend through the golf course and Willsmere Park to connect with the Main Yarra Trail near the Eastern Freeway in Kew East.

The final stage of the project is scheduled to be completed by late 2017.
