Melb one-punch victim's footy team win

One-punch victim Patrick Cronin has been remembered by his football team, who won their first game since his death.

The Lower Plenty Bears took on Whittlesea at Montmorency Park on Saturday afternoon, winning 20.10 (130) to 15.11 (101).

The 19-year-old died in Royal Melbourne Hospital on Monday after he was punched on Saturday night at a bar in Diamond Creek.

Earlier that day he had played his first seniors game for Lower Plenty.

Hundreds travelled to the oval to watch the game on Saturday, which started with a minute's silence.

All games in the Northern Football League this weekend will hold a minute's silence and players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect for Patrick.

Patrick's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at Whitefriars Catholic College.

Andrew William Lee, 33, has been charged with Patrick's murder, while his brother Brendan Lee, 37, has been charged with threatening a witness, and both are remanded in custody.
