Meth shipment seized, two men arrested

OPERATION NETS $16 MILLION ICE HAUL AND TWO SUSPECTS:

* The 154kg haul of ice was uncovered in January by routine Border Force screenings

* 35 packets of methamphetamine were hidden in a cargo of silver concentrate from Mexico

* A 26-year-old French-Canadian dual national was arrested on Saturday night in Melbourne after a brief pursuit and charged with several offences, including importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug

* The operation also nabbed a 34-year-old Sydney man near Seymour in Victoria's Goulburn Valley on Saturday; the man allegedly tried to obtain 25kg of the drug

* The two men will appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday

* The seizure was part of a joint operation by the Australian Federal Police, Victoria Police, Australian Border Force and Australian Crime Intelligence Commission.
