Men due in court over Melbourne meth bust

Five men are expected to face a Melbourne court after authorities seized 275kg of methamphetamines from shipping containers.

Police allege the massive haul was hidden underneath floorboards and steel pallets in three containers sent from China in June.

In a controlled operation, the containers were delivered to a Bayswater factory last week and people accessing them were monitored.

Properties in South Yarra, Braybrook, Bayswater, Brunswick, Box Hill and Glen Waverley were then raided.

One Malaysian man and seven Australians, aged 24 to 34, have been charged with drug offences.

Three men were charged with commercial drug importation and the other five were charged with attempting to possess and trafficking a commercial quantity of methamphetamine.

Five men will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
