A memorial garden and new training facility will open at the Victorian cricket ground where Luke Batty was killed.

The 11-year-old's estranged father killed him with a cricket bat and knife as they played together in the nets after cricket training in February.

The Tyabb Cricket Club has invited the community to the opening of its new facility and the Luke Batty Gardens on Friday.

Cricket Victoria chief executive Tony Dodemaide encouraged people to attend the 5.30pm event.

"It's great to have seen the community come together at such a difficult time to help the club develop both the facility and garden," he said.
