Melbourne woman dead, man questioned

Detectives continue to question a man after a woman was found dead in a suburban Melbourne home.

The body of a 34-year-old woman was found at a Douglas Street property at Noble Park in the city's southeast about 9am Monday.

A 36-year-old man was arrested nearby and homicide squad detectives are speaking to him.

He and the woman knew each other, police said.

"This is not a random thing, there is no need for the community to be concerned," Acting Inspector Brendan Michael told the Herald Sun at the scene.

Police were called after a member of the public noticed the man acting strangely.

"That is was prompted the call to police from a concerned citizen who saw this male and thought there were some circumstances that required attention," Insp Michael said.

"He was arrested at another location."
