Allegedly stolen car flips on peak of Melbourne's West Gate Bridge

An allegedly stolen car has flipped onto its roof after clipping another car on the peak of Melbourne's West Gate Bridge overnight.

The orange Toyota Corolla was spotted "speeding and weaving in and out of traffic", outbound on the bridge just after 1am.

Victoria police said the crash caused the sedan to slide across three lanes of traffic.

Other drivers stopped to help the two women and one man, who were stuck inside the car.

"The trio was last seen running outbound along the West Gate Bridge towards Williamstown Road," Victoria Police said in a statement.

"Officers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the people involved."

Police believe one of the people in the crash was injured but the driver wasn't hurt.

The car was allegedly stolen from Brunswick on Friday.
