Melbourne train chaos could be on the way

Melbourne commuters might need to find a different way to and from work as train staff consider holding two days of stoppages.

Rail, Tram and Bus Union members will take protected industrial action after negotiations over a new pay deal stretched into a fourth month.

Staff will meet on Monday to decide what the action will include, but have highlighted work stoppages for up to 48 hours may be an option.

Other options include free travel days that will see staff leaving all myki barriers open and refusing to check myki cards or issue infringement notices.
