Ten classrooms destroyed by fire at Wesley College’s Glen Waverley campus

Ten classrooms, mainly servicing grades five and six, have been destroyed by a fire at Wesley College’s Glen Waverley campus.

Sixty firefighters contained the fire at Wesley College, an elite private school in Melbourne's south-east. 

Fifteen fire crews were called to High Street Road in Glen Waverley fighting the blaze, which is believed to have started at about 5.15am. 

School principal Dr Helen Drennen has asked students not to attend the campus today.

“At this stage students at the Glen Waverley campus are requested not to attend school today,” Wesley College tweeted.

“Many people will be upset at what has happened today but we are a very strong and positive community and we will work very hard, very quickly to restore normality,” Dr Drennen said.

No one is believed to have been injured.

An investigation is now underway to determine whether the blaze is suspicious.
