Melbourne parking inspectors walk off job

Melbourne's parking inspectors have walked off the job and will not be issuing fines during the AFL grand final weekend.

Parking officers have been on strike since Thursday, hoping to get the council to come to the bargaining table over pay and conditions, the Australian Services Union says.

Officers walked off the job for three days in August and threatened to do it again last week during the preliminary AFL finals.

The City of Melbourne has told Fairfax media parking officers were still rostered to work all weekend.
