Melbourne man fatally struck by tram

A 69-year-old man is dead after being struck by a tram in Melbourne.

Police believe the pedestrian fell onto tracks on Kings Way at South Melbourne before he was hit about 6pm on Tuesday.

The South Melbourne man died at the scene.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the incident and will prepare a report for the coroner.
