A 15-year-old girl has allegedly taken her mother's car for a 50km high-speed drive through Melbourne's eastern suburbs, at times leading police on a pursuit.
Police first spotted the sedan in Croydon, before an intercept was attempted in Narre Warren about 1.40am on Thursday morning, a spokeswoman said.
Eventually, the Critical Incident Response Unit was called in and arrested the girl in Pakenham after she dumped the car.

She was charged with a number of traffic offences - including dangerous driving while being pursued by police and reckless conduct endangering life - and may yet be charged with stealing the keys and car.
The girl was bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.
