Melbourne father pleads guilty to using 'raping machine' on kidnapped prostitutes

Victorian man Dennis William Newall has plead guilty to the abduction and rape of several Melbourne prostitutes, 14 years after he was first convicted and sentenced to eight years' jail for a similar act.

The 56-year-old truck driver and father-of-five, who has been in jail since 2002, admitted he snatched two women from the same St Kilda street corner in November and December 2001; his original conviction was for the abduction and rape of a prostitute on November 30 that year.

The two victims who appeared to confront their attacker had not come forward to police until recently.

The court heard that Newall took all three victims to the truck depot where he worked in Brooklyn, and there he would carry out heinous acts of sadistic sexual violence.

Inside a converted bus, Newall would place the women on a crucifix-shaped "raping machine", which he had not finished building.

Today, the victims came face-to-face with the man who ruined their lives.

"I was a strong, confident and independent woman. He has destroyed me," one of the women told him.

"I couldn't wrap my head around the saddism and depravity," the other said.

"I have never ever, not before, not since, felt fear like I felt that night.

"You said no one would believe a junkie whore like me. I believed you.

"You're sick and you need help and I hope you can get it. Otherwise, women will never be safe."
