Eleven people have been charged after police raided 13 Melbourne properties, seizing drugs and a fake gun.

Eight men and three women were charged on Monday night with numerous offences including trafficking methylamphetamines, weapon and ammunition offences and handling stolen goods.

Police searched 13 properties on Monday morning in the south metropolitan region as part of a 10-month investigation into a suspected methamphetamine trafficking ring.

Investigators uncovered methamphetamine, other drugs including heroin and cannabis, cash, an imitation firearm, stolen property and drug paraphernalia.

Police say a manufacturing laboratory was found in Braeside while the Critical Incident Response Team had to force entry into a Hampton Park property.

Investigators are confident they have made a dent in the state's southeast illegal drug trade.

"Make no mistake, today's arrests will hopefully have a flow on effect to drugs not being available on the streets," Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Rix told the media on Monday.

Police expect to arrest more low-level traffickers linked to the group in the coming days.

Four people arrested remain in custody and will face out of session hearings later on Monday.

A 22-year-old Springvale man received a caution regarding cannabis possession and was released.
