Melbourne baker chased by meat cleaver-wielding intruders

A Baker’s Delight employee has been chased by a gang of armed men during a violent robbery in Melbourne’s north-west.

CCTV obtained by 9NEWS showed three masked offenders running after the baker outside the Keilor bakery about 1.30am.

Moments earlier the men, along with two others, confronted the worker after smashing the entrance to the Old Calder Highway business.

The intruders attempted to steal a safe, but were unsuccessful and instead grabbed empty cash drawers, police said.

Despite the ordeal, the baker was not injured.

All five offenders remain on the run and investigations are ongoing.
